Hello all..I am typing from the new high-speed wireless connection that my parents had installed today. It is quite exciting: we got this along with a major upgrade in digital cable: 9 channels of Encore,5 channels of Starz and the BBC. Too bad my mom didn't want to lose TV Ontario sooner, or we could've got this package a hella sooner.... It sure feels sweet to be home. We got back at around 8 last night, and haven't been up to a whole lot except watching the dude install the wireless and digital cable. So this leads me to a long-ass update of the quarter (since I haven't really done one up to this point!!)*My MI b-day party:-Twas killa, it was a nice good-bye party for the summer. We went to the Dave and Buster's by my house with an interesting cross-section of people: Brig, Jon, Amy, Gloria, Ev, Brendon, Pat, Kyle, and Zaves. Besides losing my mac and cheese and Ev's Autoweek hat, it was really a lot of fun. Even though it was not technically by b-day at that point in time (aka 11:30PM on August 29th), my intern pals bought me a sex on the beach and Mint Schnapps, which were both good.*My OH b-day party:-Well planned by Hannah and Rajvi. I sorta ruined a surprise though- Evan wasn't sure if he was coming up for this second party of mine or not. Scuba Steve wanted to know, since him and Ev are tight. So, I asked Evan if he was coming and all he said was: "Sorry, but I can't." In the six years of dating Evan, I knew he was hiding something. So, needless to say, I weasled out that he was coming to surprise me at my party- so it wasn't much of a surprise. Hannah and Rajvi were a little angry at me for ruining this surprise- but it was my b-day, so I think they eventually got over their anger. I had problems with my new verizon phone that I got, so Evan and I spent 1.5 hours at the Lima Verizon Store, and were thus 45 minutes late to my own party at Olive Garden. We had a great turn-out for the Olive Garden portion, and my drinking for the night began there: a mixed berry margarita- which was actually really, really good!! From there, most of us proceeded to the Beagle, and I was joined by 8 more friends that couldn't make it to Olive Garden. While at the Beagle, I had: A Whiskey Shot with David, a Screaming Nazi Shot with K LUS,A pineapple Turnover Shot with Hannah, A Pineapple Hynotic with Joan, and a Labbatt's with K LUS. Surpringly, I wasn't that far gone, just a little tipsy, as Jessica, Evan, Jay, and I went back to Jay's place. Oh yea-you still owe me a shot for my B-day Canada. Thanks to everyone who got me B-day presents- I have enough alcohol to last me for a really really long time!!! The Redneck Wine from Akron was awesome... *The Beagle:-I have been there three times the last quarter. I was there for my 21st. I was also there with Amy, since none of her friends are 21 yet, and she wanted to see what the Beagle was like. I also went there for Hannah's 22nd B-day, which was a lot of fun. It wasn't that great of a night for one of my roommate's who will remain nameless. Overall, the Beagle is a lot nicer than what I thought. *Engagements -A lot of my friends are getting engaged, which means a lot of weddings next year. I am especially happy for one of my good friends back home, Cassie, who just became engaged. I can't believe that a year from now, she will be Mrs. Schultz!! *Roommates-So far, so good on the roommate front. All of us are pretty laid back, even though I am barely in the apartment besides time to eat and sleep. Roommate-bonding activities are fun, especially when they involve Chipotles, Tim Hortons, and Ohio State losing....*Sports-It was sad that the tigers didn't get into the playoffs, but the way they played the last month of the season made them deserve their fate. It was good to see that the Indians and Yankees lose- since the Yankees are basically the devil and the Indians aren't nearly as good as the Tigers. It was too bad that MSU didn't beat OSU or U of M, that would have made my football season. However, U of M losing to Appalachia State definitely made me laugh. The quote of the game came from Brendon: "you know it is bad when U of M lost to a team who's main instrument in the marching band was the banjo." Perhaps even better though, was OSU getting beat by Illinois. If OSU wasn't so cocky, I honestly would probably root for them over U of M. However, since both U of M and OSU are cocky, I am now rooting for only MSU. Go Wings!!! Go Pistons!!! *Classes-P5 year is hard. However, it is amazingly exciting to realize that the end is just around the corner. We schedule are first round of rotations a month ago. These were the ones you had to do in Ohio with shared faculty. For sure, I will be in Ada from August-November doing rotations in Findlay, Lima, and Bellfontaine. It would've been nice doing all of my rotations in MI, but at least I am getting out a year early still. It was nice doing all that work on the fertility article with Dr. Hrometz over the summer. We finished it about a month and a half ago, and sent it to the editors in Spain. Supposedly the editor likes it and wants Dr. Hrometz and I to do another article on infertility and the male. I wasn't expecting any money at all from helping Dr. Hrometz with the article, just credit for a Honors Contract Course. However, since Dr. Hrometz is coordinating Endocrine, she came up to me during break and was wondering if she could use my name for a reference in class in case people had any questions about fertility and the menstrual cycle. She also informed me of a stipend we got from the journal for writing the piece. That definitely made my day!!! I also got a lot of questions from fellow classmates, which was cool!! I actually enjoyed endocrine, but I think I enjoyed CNS more!!*Girls Gone Wild-The fact that they came to Ada made me laugh. The publicity that the protesters gave Girls Gone Wild left me in stitches!! I couldn't believe how some of the protesters treated the newspaper writer covering the event. Some people are just to quick to jump on others before listening to their viewpoints- so shame on them!!! Kudos to Fr. Dave for not publicizing the event by not talking about it during his homily. *Work-It is sorta sad, Walgreens back home lost their 24 hour status, which means less hours for everyone, which in turn means no hours for me when I am home. It is ok, the stipend will last me for a long long time!!! *Margarita nights-Margarita nights have definitely been a success. Em and I are becoming Margarita making pros with all the pals enjoying them as well with either sugar or salt on the rims- I think we are up to making 30 margaritas this last quarter. *Random trips-Beth and I are determined to visit as many art museums as we can in the next year. We visited the Toledo Art Museum a few weeks ago and only got about 70% of it done. It is a very nice museum, and even better- it is free!! We also went to the Afro-Carribean Ensemble a Presser put on by the BGSU students, which was well done!! *My Grandfather-He passed away a year ago last Friday. That was a really shitty point in my life last year, thanks for all who understood and helped me through that time. For those who didn't- I should've known you weren't that good of friends to begin with-so at least I learned a lesson. It is still really odd to think that he passed away.......*in the future-I really won't care about school work after this next quarter for a few reasons: 1.) scholarship reassessment for me takes place after this next quarter. 2.) It will be capstone and other blow-off classes, which makes my life easier. 3.) It will be the last time I spend some quality time with some quality friends. -Which means, TRIP TIME SPRING QUARTER...-some ideas:-Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-Cedar Point-Mudhens Game-Hockey Game*Break plans:-Thanksgiving with Ev's family-Saturday after Thanksgiving with Polish family-in the meantime: spending time with Evan, my family, my Grandmother, and countless double dates and girls time........Thank God for:-This year going better than last year-only two more quarters of book-work-Graduation in 5 quarters-deciding to do the pharmacy program in 5 years!!!-The next real update will probably most likely be either Christmas or at the end of next quarter..Til then!!
